On April 5, 2025, exactly (76) days after the Inauguration, Americans took to the streets to protest the President, Donald J. Trump and Elon Musk, in what was called the Hands-Off Protest.
These protestors came from many cities to conjugate in mass quantities, in places like Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minnesota State Capitol, Portland, Oregon and many other cities.
It was a showing of togetherness and solidarity amongst citizens.
The citizens who en masse did not attend, were African Americans. For many Blacks, their understanding was heard during the November 2024 Presidential Elections with the majority of Black Americans voting against Trump’s second presidency.
Additionally, the Hands-Off Protest signified a dissatisfaction in Republicans, but mainly Caucasian Americans in general. White Americans are dissatisfied with Trump/Musk for many reasons, calling for an end to the hands-on approach. With dissatisfaction brewing over Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Immigration and the dismantling of policies enacted by former Presidents, the loss in 401k/Stock revenue due to the April 2nd/3rd enactment of tariffs on mostly non-Caucasian countries around the world are creating grave concerns for many, in particularly Caucasians.
Black Americans instead are resting, enjoying more communal activities. This does not mean Black Americans are inactive. On the contrary, “quiet protest” such as Economic BlackOut are planned to target businesses who are against diversity/equity initiatives.
